How it started
A friend asked me if I would be interested in sewing masks for healthcare workers, and I was excited for the opportunity. They were pre cut so I simply sewed them together. After sewing about 200 masks I decided to make some for my family. I chose some fabric that I had in my collection and made a few masks. I made one for myself, my husband and two sons. Then expanded to my parents and in-laws, and next to my siblings. After they all had a mask, I decided to let my local friends know via Facebook that I had some masks available on my front porch. I even had a Pringles container as my money collector! :)
Friends, told friends, told friends...and I continued to sew to keep up with demand. I had requests for youth masks so I made those upon request. I would send some fabric choices, they would select which they liked and I would make the mask in the desired size. Each size initially was a trial but due to grace and demand, sizing has evolved to (overall) be quite accurate according to age.
Next, I advertised to the community on our local Facebook page that I had masks available and they would be on my front porch for contactless transactions. It really took off from there!
I had a secret weapon during the busy times...my mom! I roped her in to help me keep up with demand once the mask mandate went into effect. She was a rock star helping me keep masks supplied and available. (Thanks mom!)
I have loved making masks and want to continue to provide quality masks at a reasonable price. With winter looming, I decided to transition from my front porch, to an online option. Going online, I needed a name...
Perimeter Face Masks was born!
